Something I could never do...

You may see me in the grocery store in a velour jumper and maybe once in a while without makeup, but you will never see me in the grocery store like this:
This picture was taken of my friend Bristen, not to be confused with my friend
Kristen, right when she returned from Vons Grocery. Bristen...giving people in Pacific Beach a reason to bring their picture taking cell phones into the store. Love you

Which Scrubs Character Are You

Joby and I love the sitcom Scrubs. Along with 30 Rock, it helped me understand why people watch television. Scrubs is definitely my favorite. I like it because it captures the strength, fragility and importance of human relations through wit and sarcasm, but always manages to tie it all together with a beautiful insight to life.  I am automatically drawn to entertainment ending with some moral insight considering I grew up on sitcoms such as Full house and Little House on the Prairie.  I'll admit, I have watched scrubs episodes where I actually get a little emotional at the end. (Thats cuz I'm awesome!) The video above is one of my favorite episodes and an enlightening moral tearjerker.  I guess I just relate to scrubs. It takes so many different personalites,  places them in an environment where they are forced to work together and even though they annoy the hell out of each other, they grow to love one another. Quirks and all.  It parallels our own lives. We have all had personalities in our lives that are difficult, but the beauty is that as you get to know those personalities, the difficult is replaced with understanding and understanding becomes love. Many times those people teach you some of life's most valuable lessons.
So next time you are talking to me and my advice starts out like this.." Its kindof like the time JD and Turk....." You'll know why.

For all you fellow Scrubs fans, find out which scrubs character you are at:http://www.brainfall.com/quizzes/which-scrubs-character-are-you/
I was a perfect tie between Carla and Turk. Strange.

Thank you Slomo Figure Skating old guy

Thank you for being odd. Though I pass you everyday on my morning run, you still make me smile. And I'm sorry that I have thoughts of tripping you every time you perform your one legged signature balancing brilliance.

P.S. If you could trash the Celin Dion theme music and maybe increase the bag pipes medley to 2 days a week, Cru and I would be appreciative.

Great Auntie Alice

Today you have gone home and the world has lost a gem

Stories of Dragons and hidden treasure.
A magical house that let a childs imagination run free.
Riding my skateboard at 82 years old.
Always fun and laughter...Always
Even in your last challenging years you were filled with joy
...and full of the dickens.
You brought enchantment to my childhood
And an example of true beauty to my soul.
As we say goodbye I smile...
because I know you have gone home to bring laughter to the angels

Whenever I hear a whistle, I know I'll think of you.

With love

To swaddle or not to swaddle

Prior to motherhood one might look at this picture of Cru and think this was some form of child abuse, Cru at a mental hospital for delusional babies or a photo meant to be slipped inside a randsom note to prove hostage possession. Oh contraire mon fraire, it is the greatest weapon against the shrill cry of a baby and the key to sanity. Cru actually screams and then positions himself to get swaddled. He loves it! I was speaking to a friend on the benefits of swaddling. I voiced my concern as to what I'm going to do when this calming mechanism begins to fail with their increased size and strength. She informed me that she just started to Double swaddle "when one swaddle just wasn't enough." Double swaddle!! I thought to myself, thats so crazy it just might work. Why didn't I think of that. So I can relax for now as the double swaddle should get me through the next year. After that I think I will just upgrade to a straight jacket.

Sometimes late I night...when I'm on no sleep and up with Cru.. I look at him in his little blanket cocoon and wonder.... if I keep him swaddled for 2 weeks....will he turn into a butterfly? Lack of sleep has brought much entertainment to my morning conversations with Joby.
